Everyone gets in a riding slump at some time.
These slow riding times can be a result of many different things. If you ride too much then you can "burn out". If you don't ride enough then you don't have enough skill to keep the old scooter going at "full burn" for the entire event.
Sometimes a new bike can mess up your established "smoke those guys" technique.
Lots of times your bottom will get "burned" when you don't exercise.
For the last year, I have been in the longest slump since I started riding at age 10. The guys in my club probably are wondering when I would run out of good/bad excuses.
I am always short on cash to get to the races, but the weather looked pretty good for the Ridgerunner's Enduro in Laurel and I didn't think that the temperature would be to "scorching".
So I "fired up" my trusty truck and zipped down for one of the most fun rides I have had in a while.
I asked for an early minute, so they put me on minute zero.
I ride pretty well with new trail when it is dry and sandy. The Ridgerunners gave us lots of sand with some tricky checks.
Since I goofed up the first check by not paying attention to the time, I promised myself that I wouldn't be late for any more checks that day!
So I put on the "after-burners" and went at warp speed whenever I left the special section entry checks.
I must have gotten carried away because I "burned" 4 checks by two minutes each.
I may have "smoked" myself out of a trophy, but I sure had a good time!!
